A la Desatadora de Nudos
At the beginning of the 17th century, relatives of Father Jeronimos started to have problems in their marriage. As they reached the point of separation, they went to see Father Jacob, known by his strong devotion to Mary and his gift of wise spiritual counsel. After a month of prayer, the Blessed Virgin Mary intervened and the couple was able to save their marriage.
As an act of thanksgiving, Father Jeronimos ordered a picture to be painted, representing the Virgin Mary untying knots of a wedding band.
The devotion to Maria Knotenlöserin (Mary untying knots) and her miraculous help in various problems, from broken marriages to terminal cancer, has spread all around the world, especially to Argentina and Brazil, thanks to the missionary work of Father Jorge Bergoglio (Pope Francis).
Today, the original painting is located in the Church of Saint Peter am Perlach in Augsburg, Germany.
