⁣Join us for a captivating session with our guest, Hugh Owen, founder of the Kolbe Center for the Study of Creation. Hugh takes us on a fascinating journey, unearthing the traditional teachings of the Catholic Church on creation, tracing back to the Catechism of Trent, and delving into St. Thomas' concept of the universe's first perfection. As we walk through this spiritual exploration, we unravel God's supernatural work of creation and the profound significance of the Sabbath.

This episode also exposes the influence of 17th-century philosopher Descartes and how his philosophy of uniformitarian naturalism has shaped modern thought. We dissect how these ideas have fueled evolutionary thought, highlighting the objections raised by theologians of the time. Prepare to challenge conventional secular wisdom as we delve into Young Earth Creationism and the rejection of evolution, revealing fascinating evidence that suggests humans and dinosaurs shared the Earth.

We also navigate the pivotal roles of Vatican Council I and II in shaping Catholic faith teachings and the repercussions of dismissing God's revelation about the world's creation. Discussing evolution's impact on our worldview, we delve into the traditional Catholic doctrine of creation and the absurdity of material processes creating complex coded information without intelligent involvement. So, buckle up, as we embark on this intellectual and spiritual odyssey with Hugh Owen!

In vitro fertilization, or IVF, has been front and center in the news following the Alabama Supreme Court’s ruling that embryos created through IVF are legally “children” for the purposes of that state’s Wrongful Death of a Minor Act. In the wake of the decision, politicians, religious leaders, and laypeople who view themselves as “pro-life” have wrestled publicly with legal and practical questions surrounding IVF, including its availability. Catholics, for their part, know–or ought to know–that the Church opposes IVF, though many remain unsure as to why. If IVF assists couples in having children, is this not a good thing? What crucial moral issues does IVF raise and how should Catholics address them? In this timely episode, Fr. Ian Palko explains the mechanics of IVF while situating the procedure in a classical Catholic moral framework. He also stresses the importance of not separating procreation from its proper, marital context.

A song for those in the trenches of the spiritual battle. Title track from the album "A Battle Cry Goes Out"
Music & Lyrics: Fr. Maximilian M. Dean
Bass, Drums, Guitars, Keyboard, Lead Vocals: Fr. Maximilian M. Dean
Backing Vocals: Karin Mozina
Video Production: Coronation Media

LYRICS:
A cry goes out from the King’s throne.
Triumphal shout making things known.
The trumpet blasts, the battle begins.
Hell’s gates are smashed, my King He wins.

CHORUS:
Christ our King conquers everything.
The battle of the King – war is raging.
Christ our King, He’s dominating.
Will you fight for our Warrior King?

The King of kings with His Queen Mother.
The Lord of lords our Friend and Brother,
With Angels and Saints on He goes,
To victory against the infernal foe.

CHORUS

When all seems a loss, nailed to a tree,
His death on the Cross means victory.
Devil and sin and death are dethroned.
Christ risen from the dead - our King enthroned.

CHORUS
