Women Sports Protected - Dante In 100 Days - Patriarchy vs. Matriarchy
Catholic Drive Time - 877-757-9424
Date – Friday, June 30th - 2023 – Bl. Raymond Lull
Ramon Llull, also known as the "Enlightened Doctor," was a native of Majorca, Spain, renowned for his intellect and spiritual depth. Born around 1232, he initially led a worldly life as a troubadour, but his path took a profound turn when he experienced a vision of Christ crucified. This vision inspired him to convert to the Third Order of St. Francis and dedicate his life to the mission of converting Muslims to Christianity.
Driven by his mission, Ramon Llull immersed himself in the study of Arabic and Islamic philosophy, and embarked on journeys to North Africa and Asia Minor. Despite his passion and efforts, he failed to gain the support of the Holy See and the crowns of Christendom. Undeterred, he continued his quest for knowledge and recognition. Throughout his travels, he tirelessly studied and wrote on various subjects, including alchemy, chemistry, poetry, and philosophy.
Although he had received minimal training in Scholastic theology, Ramon Llull displayed a brilliant theological mind and became known as a profound mystic.
Ramon Llull's influence extended beyond his time, and he is considered a predecessor of revered saints such as Teresa of Avila and John of the Cross. It is worth noting that there is a tradition that Ramon Llull met a tragic end, being stoned to death by Muslims in North Africa.
His books were translated into Occitan, French, and Castilian during his lifetime.
Ramon Llull's life and works demonstrate his unwavering commitment to his mission, his intellectual brilliance, and his profound spiritual insight. His legacy as an enlightened doctor, philosopher, and mystic endures to this day, inspiring scholars, theologians, and seekers of truth.
We learn from Bl. Ramon that diversity of culture is good and beautiful when built on the proper foundations of the True faith and directed toward the proper ends. May we pray to Bl Ramon for the grace to embrace our culture under the banner of Christ the King.
Bl. Raymond Lull, pray for us!
