Annual Retreat 2021 - Sierra Mountains & Yosemite National Forest
Last year for my annual retreat I spent a week in awe of God as I immersed myself in His creative handiwork in the eastern, central Sierra Mountains. This video captures some of the breathtaking highlights of my days there. Special thanks to the Naaden Family who hosted me at Reverse Creek Lodge in June Lake, CA, lent me hiking boots, a vehicle, and a kayak, and gave me the privilege of joining them for dinner and their family Rosary twice (the alpha and omega of my retreat). Five of the lakes featured in this video are from the June Lake Loop.
You'll hear three recordings that form the soundtrack which are taken from three different albums I've recorded over the years:
1. Aria in D - J.S. Bach: performed by Mariposas Ensemble. I recorded and mixed this as the opening piece on my album "Excitabo Auroram" (I'm not playing any of the instruments on this track, just the sound engineer).
2. I Will Lead You into Solitude: a song I wrote and recorded on my album "Hide Me in His Heart" and which appears on my anthology album "Memorare" as a live version.
3. Live a Life Worth Living: a song from my album "You Walk on Water" which seemed all too appropriate for kayaking.
And, yes, those are real Pennsylvania crickets singing away the divine praises during my introduction. They, with the humidity and lush green foliage of this area, were here to welcome me back to my Hermitage when I returned.
