“The Phylloxera: Dangerous sins that destroy communities and organizations” – April 3, 2022 – Passion Sunday
John 8:46-59

· We see in this Gospel that before Christ’s Passion, the devil is working hard to undermine faith.
· One of Don Bosco’s dream/visions given for his religious congregation
· Ways the devil likes to attack souls to undermine and destroy a community- applies to any organization, family or group of people.
· “The phylloxera” – an insect pest – that spreads and destroys plants
· Metaphor for sins that destroy communities
· It spreads on the wind – that is murmuring (against superiors) and backbiting (peers)
· It cools mutual charity, ignites disobedience and causes destruction of the community.
· Tale bearing is very destructive.
