Lenten Mission on the 99 Left Behind: Basics of Angelic Spirituality (Part 2 of 6)
God has entered into an agreement with us at our baptism. By means of baptism we possess the seed of heaven in habitual grace. We are supposed to keep this grace safe unto to the end, come what may. God will keep His side of the agreement, for He is God and does not change. But what about us? To maintain our side of the agreement, to keep our sanity in times of trial and darkness, we need to have MORAL CERTAINTY of the presence of grace in our souls. This moral certainty is an essential element of angelic spirituality and requires an informed and clear conscience. What is more, we need a SENSE of HUMOR as one of the 99 left behind in the desert. This essential element of angelic spirituality enables to see God through all things, not giving way to fear or despair. Working for the Salvation of Souls, despite the evils they have committed against us is yet a third element (they do not hate their fellow man). Just as our guardian angels do not give up on us, so too we must strive not to give up on others. Only by saving others will we save ourselves!
