"Laetare Jerusalem" is the introit (entrance) chant for the 4th Sunday of Lent which, like Gaudete Sunday in Advent, is a Sunday of rejoicing. The words "laetare" and "gaudete" in fact mean "rejoice"! In Advent, we are rejoicing because of proximity of the birth of our Savior; but here in Lent, we are rejoicing because of the proximity of the promise of our Savior, our salvation itself, by His death and resurrection.
