Holy Matrimony and Virginity vs the Occult
The Council of Trent stated: "Matrimony is a holy thing and is to be treated in a holy manner." One way to see its holiness is by examining its place in the hierarchy of God's plan. The Fathers and the Doctors of the Church as well as many subsequent teachings clearly show an connection between virginity/celibacy and holy matrimony with virginity and celibacy being placed above and considered more excellent than marriage. When virginity and celibacy are in place, they keep marriage in its proper place. They elevate marriage. They help keep marriage holy. But, sad to say, most today do not appreciate virginity...and as a result, marriage suffers a reduction and impoverishment. We are in a huge tug of war on the matter of holy matrimony as we have never been heretofore...and we are losing the battle because we are lacking our immoveable anchor ... celibacy and virginity.
