⁣St. John the Baptist was martyred by adulterers. Because of his adultery with Herodias, they all became examples of corruption, poster children for the seven deadly sins. What does this say of the upcoming debate on giving Holy Communion to the divorced and remarried? If we approve of their sins, regardless of human compassion for their trials, we will only set them and others led astray by their example on the track of adding sin upon sin until they too become like Herod and his followers—corrupt and causing corruption.
