Do We Still Have the Faith of Our Fathers?
All Saints: The Church seeks to develop a partnership between the old and the new, a generational connection, if you will, between ancestors and descendants. As one person put it, there needs to be "a partnership between the dead, the living, and the unborn." But the progressive "Catholic" or modernist "Catholic" has sought to break this connection. For them, the Church and her members were only enlightened in the latter half of the 20th Century. They arrogantly speak of "singing a New Church" in being... a Church that will meet the needs of modern man. Only that which is new and novel has a right to be heard, whereas the teachings of the saints of old must be suppressed. In a world that prides itself on letting voices be heard, we have silenced the voices of the saints to such an extent that one must wonder if we still have the Faith of Our Fathers. G.K. Chesterton, the great English journalist, once wrote the following about the importance of Tradition and the importance of letting our ancestors be heard. Chesterton stated: "Tradition means giving votes to the most obscure of all classes, our ancestors. Tradition is the democracy of the dead. Tradition refuses to submit to the small and arrogant oligarchy of those who merely happen to be walking about." The modern membership of the Church, by enlarge, has become like a tyranny...a tyranny of the now...a tyranny of the present moment where only the current positions on doctrine and morality are considered valid. This totalitarian tyranny of the modernists has embraced the errors of Russia in order to force a change in thinking, language, and the meaning of Church teachings. The recent Synod on the Family demonstrates this point. Synods have become like temporary gatherings of a "Catholic" Kremlin, with spokesmen who sound like Big Brother from George Orwell's 1984. And yes, the majority of the Catholic press has become a willing tool as if it were Pravda. On this great Feast of All Saints, we must ask if Catholics today, by enlarge, have the Faith of Our Fathers? Do we have the same content or deposit which was given to us by Christ through the Apostles? Or would we rather have a new "Church" that does not refer to the teachings of the saints?
