On the medal:
Lord, you are my shepherd so I will lack nothing. You restore my soul! You lead me on the right path because it is your nature to do so. Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will not fear because you are with me. I thank you for equipping me with your rod and your staff so that I can be comforted. You anoint my head with oil and ensure that my cup runs over with abundance! Thank you for this Good Shepherd Sunday and for your goodness and mercies all the days of my life, Amen!

During Holy Week 2010, a Secular Franciscan (Third Order Franciscan) named Nicholas H. Kovacs from the St. Thomas More Fraternity in Houston, Texas, was inspired by the Holy Spirit to create a chaplet, dedicated to praying for the renewal of the Franciscan Order. The title of this new prayer is “The Franciscan Family Chaplet”.
Beginning:
Make the sign of the cross and recite “The Apostle’s Creed”. Then recite the “Hail Mary” 3 times.
First Decade:
Begin by saying: “St. Francis of Assisi, through your intercession, I pray that the First Order increases in vocations and that its members continue to grow in holiness.”
Then recite the “Our Father” and recite 10 times the following: “My God and my all!”
Second Decade:
Begin by saying: “St. Francis of Assisi, through your intercession, I pray that the Second Order increases in vocations and that its members continue to grow in holiness.”
Then recite the “Our Father” and recite 10 times the following: “My God and my all!”
Third Decade:
Begin by saying: “St. Francis of Assisi, through your intercession, I pray that the Third Order, both Regular and Secular, increases in vocations and that its members continue to grow in holiness.”
Then recite the “Our Father” and recite 10 times the following: “My God and my all!”
Conclusion:
End by reciting 1 time: “We adore You, O Lord Jesus Christ, because by Your holy Cross, You have redeemed the world.” Say the “Glory Be” 3 times for the intentions of the Pope and his continued holiness. Make the sign of the cross.
Note: This chaplet can be said as a Novena in preparation for the feast of St. Francis on October 4.

The chaplet consists of a medal of Saint Mary of Magdalen, and 10 beads plus 3 for a total of 13 beads.
Mary Magdalen, Also known as Maria Magdalena; Mary Magdalene; the Sinner was from Magdala near Tiberias, on the west shore of Galilee. She may have gotten her name from a Talmudic expression meaning "curling women's hair," which the Talmud explains as of an adulteress.

On the Medal say:
Saint Mary Magdalen, friend, and follower of Jesus, help me to recognize my sins so that I may seek forgiveness and that I too may be exorcised by Him. Pray for me so that I too may be closer to Jesus and love him as my Divine Savior. 12 And when he came nigh to the gate of the city, behold a dead man was carried out, the only son of his mother; and she was a widow: and a great multitude of the city was with her.
Cum autem appropinquaret portae civitatis, ecce defunctus efferebatur filius unicus matris suae : et haec vidua erat : et turba civitatis multa cum illa.
13 Whom when the Lord had seen, being moved with mercy towards her, he said to her: Weep not.

He spoke also this parable: A certain man had a fig tree planted in his vineyard, and he came seeking fruit on it, and found none.
Dicebat autem et hanc similitudinem : Arborem fici habebat quidam plantatam in vinea sua, et venit quaerens fructum in illa, et non invenit.
7 And he said to the dresser of the vineyard: Behold, for these three years I come seeking fruit on this fig tree, and I find none. Cut it down therefore: why cumbereth it the ground?
Dixit autem ad cultorem vineae : Ecce anni tres sunt ex quo venio quaerens fructum in ficulnea hac, et non invenio : succide ergo illam : ut quid etiam terram occupat?
8 But he answering, said to him: Lord, let it alone this year also, until I dig about it, and dung it.
At ille respondens, dicit illi : Domine dimitte illam et hoc anno, usque dum fodiam circa illam, et mittam stercora,
9 And if happily it bear fruit: but if not, then after that thou shalt cut it down.
et siquidem fecerit fructum : sin autem, in futurum succides eam.
10 And he was teaching in their synagogue on their sabbath.
Erat autem docens in synagoga eorum sabbatis.
11 And behold there was a woman, who had a spirit of infirmity eighteen years: and she was bowed together, neither could she look upwards at all.
Et ecce mulier, quae habebat spiritum infirmitatis annis decem et octo : et erat inclinata, nec omnino poterat sursum respicere.
12 Whom when Jesus saw, he called her unto him, and said to her: Woman, thou art delivered from thy infirmity.
Quam cum videret Jesus, vocavit eam ad se, et ait illi : Mulier, dimissa es ab infirmitate tua.
13 And he laid his hands upon her, and immediately she was made straight, and glorified God.
Et imposuit illi manus, et confestim erecta est, et glorificabat Deum.
14 And the ruler of the synagogue (being angry that Jesus had healed on the sabbath) answering, said to the multitude: Six days there are wherein you ought to work. In them therefore come, and be healed; and not on the sabbath day.
Respondens autem archisynagogus, indignans quia sabbato curasset Jesus, dicebat turbae : Sex dies sunt in quibus oportet operari : in his ergo venite, et curamini, et non in die sabbati.
15 And the Lord answering him, said: Ye hypocrites, doth not every one of you, on the sabbath day, loose his ox or his ass from the manger, and lead them to water?
Respondens autem ad illum Dominus, dixit : Hypocritae, unusquisque vestrum sabbato non solvit bovem suum, aut asinum a praesepio, et ducit adaquare?
16 And ought not this daughter of Abraham, whom Satan hath bound, lo, these eighteen years, be loosed from this bond on the sabbath day?
Hanc autem filiam Abrahae, quam alligavit Satanas, ecce decem et octo annis, non oportuit solvi a vinculo isto die sabbati?
17 And when he said these things, all his adversaries were ashamed: and all the people rejoiced for all the things that were gloriously done by him.
Et cum haec diceret, erubescant omnes adversarii ejus : et omnis populus gaudebat in universis, quae gloriosae fiebant ab eo.
"The barren fig tree," says Saint Gregory, "means the same thing as the infirm woman, that is to say human nature: and the spared fig-tree has the same significance as the woman whose infirmity was healed".

Et ascendens in naviculam, transfretavit, et venit in civitatem suam.
2 And behold they brought to him one sick of the palsy lying in a bed. And Jesus, seeing their faith, said to the man sick of the palsy: Be of good heart, son, thy sins are forgiven thee.
Et ecce offerebant ei paralyticum jacentem in lecto. Et videns Jesus fidem illorum, dixit paralytico : Confide fili, remittuntur tibi peccata tua.
3 And behold some of the scribes said within themselves: He blasphemeth.
Et ecce quidam de scribis dixerunt intra se : Hic blasphemat.
4 And Jesus seeing their thoughts, said: Why do you think evil in your hearts?
Et cum vidisset Jesus cogitationes eorum, dixit : Ut quid cogitatis mala in cordibus vestris?
5 Whether is easier, to say, Thy sins are forgiven thee: or to say, Arise, and walk?
Quid est facilius dicere : Dimittuntur tibi peccata tua : an dicere : Surge, et ambula?
6 But that you may know that the Son of man hath power on earth to forgive sins, (then said he to the man sick of palsy,) Arise, take up thy bed, and go into thy house.
Ut autem sciatis, quia Filius hominis habet potestatem in terra dimittendi peccata, tunc ait paralytico : Surge, tolle lectum tuum, et vade in domum tuam.
7 And he arose, and went into his house.
Et surrexit, et abiit in domum suam.
8 And the multitude seeing it, feared, and glorified God that gave such power to men.
Videntes autem turbae timuerunt, et glorificaverunt Deum, qui dedit potestatem talem hominibus.

Let your loins be girt, and lamps burning in your hands.
Sint lumbi vestri praecincti, et lucernae ardentes in manibus vestris,
36 And you yourselves like to men who wait for their lord, when he shall return from the wedding; that when he cometh and knocketh, they may open to him immediately.
et vos similes hominibus exspectantibus dominum suum quando revertatur a nuptiis : ut, cum venerit et pulsaverit, confestim aperiant ei.
37 Blessed are those servants, whom the Lord when he cometh, shall find watching. Amen I say to you, that he will gird himself, and make them sit down to meat, and passing will minister unto them.
Beati servi illi quos, cum venerit dominus, invenerit vigilantes : amen dico vobis, quod praecinget se, et faciet illos discumbere, et transiens ministrabit illis.
38 And if he shall come in the second watch, or come in the third watch, and find them so, blessed are those servants.
Et si venerit in secunda vigilia, et si in tertia vigilia venerit, et ita invenerit, beati sunt servi illi.
39 But this know ye, that if the householder did know at what hour the thief would come, he would surely watch, and would not suffer his house to be broken open.
Hoc autem scitote, quoniam si sciret paterfamilias, qua hora fur veniret, vigilaret utique, et non sineret perfodi domum suam.
40 Be you then also ready: for at what hour you think not, the Son of man will come.
Et vos estote parati : quia qua hora non putatis, Filius hominis veniet
St Bruno, born at Cologne, retired with six of his friends to one of the desert mountains of Dauphiny in the south east of France. There he established the first house of the order of the Carthusians. He died on October 6 A.D. 1101.
