The kingdom of heaven is like unto a treasure hidden in a field. Which a man having found, hid it, and for joy thereof goeth, and selleth all that he hath, and buyeth that field.
Simile est regnum caelorum thesauro abscondito in agro : quem qui invenit homo, abscondit, et prae gaudio illius vadit, et vendit universa quae habet, et emit agrum illum.
45 Again the kingdom of heaven is like to a merchant seeking good pearls.
Iterum simile est regnum caelorum homini negotiatori, quaerenti bonas margaritas.
46 Who when he had found one pearl of great price, went his way, and sold all that he had, and bought it.
Inventa autem una pretiosa margarita, abiit, et vendidit omnia quae habuit, et emit eam.
47 Again the kingdom of heaven is like to a net cast into the sea, and gathering together of all kind of fishes.
Iterum simile est regnum caelorum sagenae missae in mare, et ex omni genere piscium congreganti.
48 Which, when it was filled, they drew out, and sitting by the shore, they chose out the good into vessels, but the bad they cast forth.
Quam, cum impleta esset, educentes, et secus littus sedentes, elegerunt bonis in vasa, malos autem foras miserunt.
49 So shall it be at the end of the world. The angels shall go out, and shall separate the wicked from among the just.
Sic erit in consummatione saeculi : exibunt angeli, et separabunt malos de medio justorum,
50 And shall cast them into the furnace of fire: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.
et mittent eos in caminum ignis : ibi erit fletus, et stridor dentium.
51 Have ye understood all these things? They say to him: Yes.
Intellexistis haec omnia? Dicunt ei : Etiam.
52 He said unto them: Therefore every scribe instructed in the kingdom of heaven, is like to a man that is a householder, who bringeth forth out of his treasure new things and old.
Ait illis : Ideo omnis scriba doctus in regno caelorum, similis est homini patrifamilias, qui profert de thesauro suo nova et vetera.

Rogabat autem illum quidam de pharisaeis ut manducaret cum illo. Et ingressus domum pharisaei discubuit.
37 And behold a woman that was in the city, a sinner, when she knew that he sat at meat in the Pharisee's house, brought an alabaster box of ointment;
Et ecce mulier, quae erat in civitate peccatrix, ut cognovit quod accubuisset in domo pharisaei, attulit alabastrum unguenti :
38 And standing behind at his feet, she began to wash his feet, with tears, and wiped them with the hairs of her head, and kissed his feet, and anointed them with the ointment.
et stans retro secus pedes ejus, lacrimis coepit rigare pedes ejus, et capillis capitis sui tergebat, et osculabatur pedes ejus, et unguento ungebat.
39 And the Pharisee, who had invited him, seeing it, spoke within himself, saying: This man, if he were a prophet, would know surely who and what manner of woman this is that toucheth him, that she is a sinner.
Videns autem pharisaeus, qui vocaverat eum, ait intra se dicens : Hic si esset propheta, sciret utique quae et qualis est mulier, quae tangit eum : quia peccatrix est.
40 And Jesus answering, said to him: Simon, I have somewhat to say to thee. But he said: Master, say it.
Et respondens Jesus, dixit ad illum : Simon, habeo tibi aliquid dicere. At ille ait : Magister, dic.
41 A certain creditor had two debtors, the one who owed five hundred pence, and the other fifty.
Duo debitores erant cuidam foeneratori : unus debebat denarios quingentos, et alius quinquaginta.
42 And whereas they had not wherewith to pay, he forgave them both. Which therefore of the two loveth him most?
Non habentibus illis unde redderent, donavit utrisque. Quis ergo eum plus diligit?
43 Simon answering, said: I suppose that he to whom he forgave most. And he said to him: Thou hast judged rightly.
Respondens Simon dixit : Aestimo quia is cui plus donavit. At ille dixit : Recte judicasti.
44 And turning to the woman, he said unto Simon: Dost thou see this woman? I entered into thy house, thou gavest me no water for my feet; but she with tears hath washed my feet, and with her hairs hath wiped them.
Et conversus ad mulierem, dixit Simoni : Vides hanc mulierem? Intravi in domum tuam, aquam pedibus meis non dedisti : haec autem lacrimis rigavit pedes meos, et capillis suis tersit.
45 Thou gavest me no kiss; but she, since she came in, hath not ceased to kiss my feet.
Osculum mihi non dedisti : haec autem ex quo intravit, non cessavit osculari pedes meos.
46 My head with oil thou didst not anoint; but she with ointment hath anointed my feet.
Oleo caput meum non unxisti : haec autem unguento unxit pedes meos.
47 Wherefore I say to thee: Many sins are forgiven her, because she hath loved much. But to whom less is forgiven, he loveth less.
Propter quod dico tibi : remittuntur ei peccata multa, quoniam dilexit multum. Cui autem minus dimittitur, minus diligit.
48 And he said to her: Thy sins are forgiven thee.
Dixit autem ad illam : Remittuntur tibi peccata.
49 And they that sat at meat with him began to say within themselves: Who is this that forgiveth sins also?
Et coeperunt qui simul accumbebant, dicere intra se : Quis est hic qui etiam peccata dimittit?
50 And he said to the woman: Thy faith hath made thee safe, go in peace.
Dixit autem ad mulierem : Fides tua te salvam fecit : vade in pace.

2 And he called him, and said to him: How is it that I hear this of thee? give an account of thy stewardship: for now thou canst be steward no longer.

3 And the steward said within himself: What shall I do, because my lord taketh away from me the stewardship? To dig I am not able; to beg I am ashamed.
Ait autem villicus intra se : Quid faciam? quia dominus meus aufert a me villicationem. Fodere non valeo, mendicare erubesco.
4 I know what I will do, that when I shall be removed from the stewardship, they may receive me into their houses.
Scio quid faciam, ut, cum amotus fuero a villicatione, recipiant me in domos suas.
5 Therefore calling together every one of his lord's debtors, he said to the first: How much dost thou owe my lord?
Convocatis itaque singulis debitoribus domini sui, dicebat primo : Quantum debes domino meo?
6 But he said: An hundred barrels of oil. And he said to him: Take thy bill and sit down quickly, and write fifty.
At ille dixit : Centum cados olei. Dixitque illi : Accipe cautionem tuam : et sede cito, scribe quinquaginta.
7 Then he said to another: And how much dost thou owe? Who said: An hundred quarters of wheat. He said to him: Take thy bill, and write eighty.
Deinde alii dixit : Tu vero quantum debes? Qui ait : Centum coros tritici. Ait illi : Accipe litteras tuas, et scribe octoginta.
8 And the lord commended the unjust steward, forasmuch as he had done wisely: for the children of this world are wiser in their generation than the children of light.
Et laudavit dominus villicum iniquitatis, quia prudenter fecisset : quia filii hujus saeculi prudentiores filiis lucis in generatione sua sunt.
9 And I say to you: Make unto you friends of the mammon of iniquity; that when you shall fail, they may receive you into everlasting dwellings.
Et ego vobis dico : facite vobis amicos de mammona iniquitatis : ut, cum defeceritis, recipiant vos in aeterna tabernacula.

1. St. Anne and the Essenes:
- Many ancestors of St. Anne were Essenes, a group known for their religious practices.
- The Essenes were descendants of priests who carried the Ark of the Covenant during Moses' time and lived in a manner resembling a form of religious life.
2. St. Anne's Early Life:
- St. Anne was not strikingly beautiful but had a distinguished, pious, and pure character.
- At the age of five, she was taken to the Temple, where she spent twelve years and returned home at seventeen.
3. St. Anne's Marriage to St. Joachim:
- St. Anne was advised by a holy man to marry St. Joachim from the tribe of David, foretelling something extraordinary from their union.
- St. Joachim was a man of charming manners, and both were mature and serious individuals.
4. St. Anne's Sterility and Miracle of Conception:
- St. Anne suffered humiliation due to her sterility, considered shameful in that era.
- God miraculously granted St. Anne the conception of Our Lady, the Virgin Mary.
5. The Role of Prophets:
- The Essenes were linked to the line of Prophets, with one of them foretelling the birth of the Virgin Mary to St. Anne.
6. St. Anne's Moral Profile:
- St. Anne and St. Joachim were wise and calm individuals with great moral character.
- Despite their initial challenges, they remained faithful and patient in God's plan.
7. St. Anne's Fruit of Sanctification:
- St. Anne had her "fruit unto sanctification" by desiring a child through prayer, alms, fasting, and vows.
- She firmly hoped for God's blessing despite many years of waiting.
- St. Anne faithfully cared for the Virgin Mary during her womb, after birth, and in the Temple.
8. Moral Lessons:
- The importance of chastity and the rare grace it represented in the Old Covenant.
- The significance of fulfilling vows and promises made to God.
- The virtue of patience in seeking God's will and blessings.
- The importance of observing the Sabbath and the five ways to keep the feast well.
