⁣Risibility? It is the ability to laugh. Only humans possess this trait. Modern society portrays holy people as buzz kills or stiffs or just people that aren't fun whereas in reality the saints were fun of joy & fun. Examples of Ss Philip Neri, John Vianney, Pio, & Lawrence along with a short talk on Fr Vincent Capodanno http://www.vincentcapodanno.org/ prayers & prayer card of him found here http://www.vincentcapodanno.org/cause...

⁣Sr. Dominique Sasaki was a “hibakusha” … a survivor of the atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. She was not Catholic when the A-bomb exploded over Hiroshima on August 6, 1945. After of year of incredible suffering and meeting Fr. Kleinsorge, S.J., who also was a bomb survivor, she was granted the grace of conversion. She was baptized just a little over a year after the explosion occured that changed her life. Later she entered religious life and became Sr. Dominique, helping many souls die in peace. One thing we can learn from her experience is the importance of cooperating with God’s graces to convert, not just to the Holy Catholic Faith, but to continue our conversion in that Faith, what the Benedictines call “conversion of manners.” May we not require a bomb to drop or a disaster to strike to continue our conversions. ⁣Before the Day of the Lord, the devil will have his hour. Heaven pleads with us below to pray the Holy Rosary during that dark hour. Each bead of the Holy Rosary is like a star that, along with the Morning Star, Our Lady, lights up the darkest night. The Holy Rosary is a scourge that beats back our enemies, filled with small stones that knock down any Goliath. But the Holy Rosary is not just essential equipment for dark times, but also a sure means of ushering in a certain age of peace. Each bead is like a seed that is planted which will bring forth, one day, beautiful roses and pure lilies. An example of the Holy Rosary getting us through dark times and bringing in a time of restoration is seen in the story of Our Lady of Pompeii and Blessed Bartolo Longo. ⁣Immaculate Conception: The famous Flemish painter Jan Van Eyck (d. 1441) captured many thought provoking truths of our holy faith in his painting of the Annunciation. You can look at the painting in close detail here: ⁣https://upload.wikimedia.org/w....ikipedia/commons/6/6

This sermon attempts to show how these truths present in this painting are very edifying as well as helpful to us in understanding the need for the Immaculate Conception. She was the only one able to usher in the Incarnation, making it possible to restore all things in Christ. She succeeded where so many others had failed. We also see that by consecrating ourselves to her, we will (i) share in her power over the occult forces that are seeking to dominate the world, and (2) share with her the Lord’s victories, prefigured in the Old Testament. ⁣We are our own worst enemy, because we make ourselves unhappy by not accepting what is, by preferring things to be other than what they are. We can be at peace if we choose to want what God wants. That way, we're always getting what we want. We will not grow in peace nor will we grow in holiness until we recognize in all things an opportunity to lives God's will for us. ⁣Christ the King. How easy it is to become impatient in waiting for the King to fulfill His Promises. How easy it is to start wondering where He has gone in times like these. The great Russian writer, Fyodor Dostoevsky, describes in an insightful allegory (called the Grand Inquisitor) how a Cardinal decided to act on this impatience and form his own kingdom while remaining in his position inside the Church, the Kingdom of Christ on earth. The Cardinal justifies himself on why he founded a new kingdom, how he did it (that is, who helped him), and some of the effects. This allegory seems to have a haunting echo or fulfillment in our times. Let us, then, be patient in waiting for the fulfillment of His Majesty’s promises lest we become a Grand Inquisitor ourselves or help some new Grand Inquisitor in our midst today. Let us pray and hope that the King of kings will visit any such Inquisitors that are alive today with a powerful actual grace.
