Además de la oración, el ayuno debe tener un lugar importante en la vida de todo cristiano. Es parte del ascetismo.
Just some thoughts on why I became Catholic and also talking about how I am going to start talking and doing videos on Purglatory. Also, I talked about doing Chapter 2 of Mediation on Death that will be posted tomorrow.
This history of Catholic fasting and abstinence is narrated from the 8-part series written by Matthew Plese and incorporated into his book "The Definitive Guide to Catholic Fasting and Abstinence." He is also the author of "Understanding the Precepts of the Church," and he serves as the President of CatechismClass.com. Sadly, most of what is related here is entirely unknown by modern Catholics. Re-learning our history is a must. And for that reason, a history of fasting and abstinence is presented.

Day 7 in a series of daily readings and meditations from "The School of Jesus Crucified" by Father Ignatius of the Side of Jesus. Rob will read sections from this book aloud daily throughout Lent to help draw us in deeper to our blessed Lord's Passion. Today we meditate on Our Lord's agony in the garden.

Avoiding Babylon was started during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic. During these difficult and dark days, when most of us were isolated from family, friends, our parishes, and even the Sacraments themselves, this channel was started as a statement of standing against the tyrannical mandates that many of us were living under. Since those early days, this channel has morphed into an amazing community of friends…no…more than friends…Christian brothers and sisters…who have grown in joy and charity.
Avoiding Babylon does not criticize the hierarchy or institutional Church, especially Pope Francis. We recognize there is an unprecedented crisis in the Church, but we feel that there are other shows that address these issues that are more qualified than us. Instead, we try to remind ourselves and those who enjoy the channel that being Catholic is a joyful and exciting experience. We seek true Catholic fraternity and eutrapelia with other Catholics who, like us, are doing their best to live out their vocation with the help of God’s Grace. Above all, we try to bring humor and joy to the craziness of this fallen world, for as Hillaire Belloc has famously said:
“Wherever the Catholic sun doth shine,
There’s always laughter and good red wine.
At least I’ve always found it so.
Benedicamus Domino!”

Rob and Anthony discuss platonic friendships between men & women. Are they possible? Does marriage change something? Also, Jesus has a fully human nature...but did he laugh when he was here on Earth?

* Documents of the Carbonnari: "Our ultimate end is that of Voltaire and of the French Revolution the final
destruction of Catholicism, and even of the Christian idea. The work which we have
undertaken is not the work of a day, nor of a month, nor of a year. It may last many
years, a century, perhaps; in our ranks the soldier dies; but the fight goes on. . . .
"It is not in the blood of an isolated man, or even of a traitor, that it is necessary
to exercise our power: it is upon the masses....t is the corruption of the masses we have undertaken—the
corruption of the people through the clergy, and of the clergy by us—the corruption
which ought one day to enable us to lay the Church in the tomb. . .
"One of our friends, laughing at our projects, recently said to us: In order to
destroy Catholicism it is necessary to commence by suppressing woman. The words
are true in a sense; but since we cannot suppress woman, let us corrupt her with the
Church, corruptio optimi pessimna [Corruption of the best is the worst]. The best
poinard with which to strike the Church is corruption."
We might multiply such quotations directing how youths are to be entrapped,
women corrupted and utilized for corruption, etc." FROM THE BOOK "FREEMASONRY AND THE ANTI-CHRISTIAN MOVEMENT" Read the entire book here: https://bit.ly/3Y02IGL
* "We have sometimes quoted extracts from the papers of the 'Illuminés de
Bavaria or the Italian Haute-Vente' who advocated the
corruption of women and children as a means to advance Masonic affairs." - "Verites Sur La Franc Maconnerie" Révue Internationale des Societés Secretes, https://bit.ly/3ECWNk0
