⁣The Holy Souls in Purgatory know God in themselves. The minds are perfectly rectified. No more error. No more doubts. This makes them mystics: have mystical knowledge of God who is so near and yet unable to be seen face to face (which requires the gift of glory). This knowledge brings great joy. On the other hand, their wills are far from such a perfect rectification. The great difference between the intellect and will is very painful. The mystics experienced this Purgatory on earth. Not surprisingly, the mystics often received visitors from Purgatory. There is a kinship between them. In the end, everyone must become a mystic to attain heaven. Some do it here but most go the more painful route of Purgatory.
