We were told that there was simplicity in the new rites, but we found instead only a pedestrian and impoverished ritual. The fad of using the vernacular…of Mass facing the people…the passing trend of folk tunes and banners…the infatuation with liturgical social engineering with female lectors and servers…the mania that caused the removal of the high altars and communion rails…a modern puritanical zeal for the minimal replaced the ornate..the formal…and the solemn. All of this and more have made the Novus Ordo just a passing trend that will not last. It may be just over 50 years old, but the New Rites already seem dated. It married the modern age and its trends and has now found itself a widow with little or no suitors. The Traditional Catholic, therefore, should not identify himself negatively as being against the Novus Ordo, but rather as one who has discovered a pearl of great price…a treasure hidden in the field which he has been willing to purchase.

You know it’s very interesting that most artistic depictions of the mystery of the annunciation take place in an enclosed garden. When the angel Gabriel visits with our Lady, it takes place in a flowery and fruitful plot of land with cloister walls. The Blessed Virgin Mary, you see, is the New Garden of Eden. The inerrant Scriptural text known as the Song of Songs or the Canticle of Canticles prophesies about Our Lady saying: An enclosed garden is my sister, my spouse, an enclosed garden, a foundation sealed. And into this garden would be sown a divine seed. At the moment of Mary’s fiat,her surrendering to the Will of Almighty God, the New Adam…the God-Man…would be formed within a new terrestrial paradise, not by way of dust, but through the Most Prue Blood of Mary found within her enclosed garden. In fact, we find that the original Garden of Eden made for Adam, his wife, and future children, was simply a prefigurement…a foreshadowing of the ultimate Marian Garden and Jesus Christ Who would cultivate that terrestrial paradise.

Largely set in a futuristic World State, inhabited by genetically modified citizens and an intelligence-based social hierarchy, the novel anticipates huge scientific advancements in reproductive technology, sleep-learning, psychological manipulation and classical conditioning that are combined to make a dystopian society which is challenged by only a single individual: the story's protagonist. Huxley followed this book with a reassessment in essay form, Brave New World Revisited (1958), and with his final novel, Island (1962), the utopian counterpart. The novel is often compared to George Orwell's Nineteen Eighty-Four (1949).
In 1999, the Modern Library ranked Brave New World as #5 on its list of the 100 best English-language novels of the 20th century. In 2003, Robert McCrum, writing for The Observer, included Brave New World chronologically at #53 in "the top 100 greatest novels of all time" and the novel was listed at #87 on The Big Read survey by the BBC.

The CBS Radio Workshop was an experimental dramatic radio anthology series that aired on CBS from January 27, 1956, until September 22, 1957. Subtitled “radio’s distinguished series to man’s imagination,” it was a revival of the earlier Columbia Experimental Laboratory (1931), Columbia Experimental Dramatic Laboratory (1932) and Columbia Workshop broadcasts by CBS from 1936 to 1943, and used some of the same writers and directors employed on the earlier series. The CBS Radio Workshop was one of American network radio's last attempts to hold on to, and perhaps recapture, some of the demographics they had lost to television in the post-World War II era.
