The Jack Benny Program is a radio-TV comedy series that ran for more than three decades and is generally regarded as a high-water mark in 20th-century American comedy.
Cast:
Jack Benny – played himself. Protagonist of the show, Benny is a comic, vain, penny-pinching miser, insisting on remaining 39 years old on stage despite his actual age, and often playing the violin badly.
Eddie Anderson – Rochester Van Jones, Jack's valet and chauffeur. Early in the show's run, he often talked of gambling or going out with women. Later on, he generally complained about his salary.
Don Wilson – Himself. Don generally opened the show and also did the commercials. He was the target of Jack's jokes, mostly about his weight.
Gene McNulty – Dennis Day, a vocalist perpetually in his 20s (by the time of the last television series, McNulty was 49 years old). He was sweet but not very bright. When called upon, he could use a wide variety of accents, which was especially useful in plays. He usually sang a song about 10 minutes into the program. If the episode was a flashback to a previous time, a ruse would be used such as Dennis singing his song for Jack so he could hear it before the show. McNulty adopted the name "Dennis Day" as his stage name for the rest of his career.
Sadie Marks – Mary Livingstone, a sarcastic comic foil whose varying roles all served as, to use the description of Fred Allen, "a girl to insult (Jack)." Marks, who in real life was Benny's wife, later legally changed her name to "Mary Livingstone" in response to the character's popularity. Her role on the program was reduced in the 1950s due to increasing stage fright, and Livingstone finally retired from acting in 1958.
Phil Harris – Himself. A skirt-chasing, arrogant, hip-talking bandleader who constantly put Jack down (in a mostly friendly way, of course). He referred to Mary as "Livvy" or "Liv", and Jack as "Jackson". Harris explained this once by saying it's "as close as I can get to jackass and still be polite" Spun off into The Phil Harris–Alice Faye Show (1946–1954) with his wife, actress Alice Faye. Harris left the radio show in 1952 and his character did not make the transition to television.
Mel Blanc – Carmichael the Polar Bear, Professor Pierre LeBlanc, Sy the Mexican, Polly (Jack's parrot), The Maxwell and many other assorted voices. An occasional running gag went along the lines of how the various characters Mel portrayed all looked alike. He was also the sound effects of Jack's barely functional Maxwell automobile—a role he played again in the Warner Brothers cartoon The Mouse that Jack Built. Another participating voice actor was Bert Gordon. Mel also played a train station announcer, whose catchphrase was, "Train leaving on Track Five for Anaheim, Azusa and Cuc-amonga." (Wikipedia)

Prelude to Thanksgiving - Dr. Christian - Jean Hersholt
Dr. Christian is a radio series with Jean Hersholt in the title role. It aired on CBS Radio from November 7, 1937 to January 6, 1954. In 1956, the series was adapted for television where it aired in syndication until 1957.

Hersholt had portrayed the character Dr. John Luke, based on Dr. Allan Roy Dafoe, the obstetrician who delivered and cared for the Dionne Quintuplets, in the 20th Century Fox movie The Country Doctor (1936) and its two sequels. He wanted to perform the same role on radio but could not get the rights. He decided to create his own doctor character for radio, and since he was a Hans Christian Andersen enthusiast, he borrowed that name for his character of philosophical Dr. Paul Christian.

Most Reverend Edward J. Burns, Bishop of the Diocese of Dallas, is back for a deep-dive discussion on the shepherd’s role in leading the flock. Two years ago, Bishop Burns launched a series of listening sessions in preparation for the 2024 Dallas Synod. The implementation of the solutions from this process will culminate in December 2031 with the 500th anniversary celebration of Our Lady of Guadalupe appearing to St. Juan Diego.
Bishop Burns was ordained to the priesthood with the Diocese of Pittsburgh on June 25, 1983. Next, he was ordained a Bishop and installed in the Diocese of Juneau, Alaska, in 2009. The Diocese of Dallas was blessed when the Most Reverend Edward J. Burns was installed as the eighth Bishop of the Diocese of Dallas in 2017.

Steve has a master’s degree in Systematic Theology from Seton Hall University, a master’s degree in Nuclear Engineering from North Carolina State University, and a bachelor’s degree in Geology from the University of Rochester in New York.
In addition to his work at the national energy advisory firm 5, Steve is an Adjunct Professor of Theology at Seton Hall University and serves his community as a member of his church’s parish council and as the Vice Chairman of the Board for Chilton Medical Center in New Jersey.
The show starts with Blessed are the Joke Makers Bonus Edition, in which each Dude must take on a different persona to address the prompt, “I got seven deadly sins, but ____ ain’t one.”
After the game, Steve dives into a reflection on his relationship with his family as an only child with no aunts or uncles. Steve tells touching stories of both of his parents’ deaths and the role that faith played throughout the journey.
As his father was taking his final breaths, Steve stepped in to baptize him in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.
As Steve states in the show, “Love’s great gift is joy, but the price is the pain of separation.”

In his role as an adjunct professor, Steve teaches a fascinating class at Seton Hall called Sports & Spirituality. This class starts with an understanding of the human person and then explores how sports and spirituality both require discipline, fortitude, and forgiveness.

Reverse Simpsons – Steve leads the Dudes through a quiz full of twists and turns, including sections on feast days, BeatiDuderonomy, and a reverse spelling bee.
Jason Deuterman is back for this BeatiDudes bonus episode. In addition to being a loving father and husband, Jason Deuterman serves as the Director of Strategic Consulting and Innovation Design for Our Sunday Visitor.
The show begins with a special Blessed are the Joke Makers Bonus Edition in which each of the Dudes takes on different personas that Jason must try to guess as they address the prompt, “St Nicholas brought ________ to kids for Christmas for the first time.”
Then we learn about Jason’s innovative approach to strategic ministry development for customized parish and diocese solutions during his time with the Diocese of Dallas. His passion for creating ideas and solutions from scratch led him to explore design thinking.
It was this newfound passion that brought him to OSV, one of the most innovative and impactful organizations in the church today. In his current role, Jason fosters and encourages entrepreneurial church leadership for organizations throughout the United States.

Mike Neri has a long record of service to the nation, his communities, and corporate and entrepreneurial organizations. A West Point graduate, Mike served in the Army on active duty for 12 years, attaining the rank of Major. He served in duty assignments and positions of leadership in the 1st Cavalry Division, the 3rd Armored Cavalry Regiment, the 10th Combat Support Hospital, and in the Department of the Army Staff in the Pentagon.
While on active duty serving in Colorado, Mike earned his MBA from Regis University. Mike transitioned to corporate America in 2004 and began a career in banking & financial services specializing in Fintech and Payments.
What defines Mike most is his care, love, and focus on his family.

Mike Neri has a long record of service to the nation, his communities, and corporate and entrepreneurial organizations. A West Point graduate, Mike served in the Army on active duty for 12 years, attaining the rank of Major. He served in duty assignments and positions of leadership in the 1st Cavalry Division, the 3rd Armored Cavalry Regiment, the 10th Combat Support Hospital, and in the Department of the Army Staff in the Pentagon.
While on active duty serving in Colorado, Mike earned his MBA from Regis University. Mike transitioned to corporate America in 2004 and began a career in banking & financial services specializing in Fintech and Payments.
What defines Mike most is his care, love, and focus on his family.
The show starts with a reflection on how Mike and Jeff met in 2005 through the Christ Renews His Parish retreat at St. Thomas Aquinas in East Dallas. This proved to be a formative moment for Mike’s spiritual journey and his connection to authentic Catholic community for himself and his family.

During his time serving in Washington, DC, Mike worked for a few years in the Pentagon and happened to be onsite during the attacks of September 11, 2001. Mike’s original office was in the direct path of the airplane that struck the Pentagon, and thankfully his office had relocated to the inner ring only months earlier for a renovation. This tragic experience of this event reignited Mike’s faith.
